Introduction
The Heritage Time Capsule (HTC) Project was launched by ISSMGE in 2020 to capture past, current and future issues in Geotechnical Engineering practice. It is basically a collection of contributions from individuals and groups, including member societies, technical committees, and other groups belonging to the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). The contributions cover the history, development, and achievements of geotechnical engineering in their countries or areas. These contributions are gathered from 2020 to 2023 and aim at showing what is the history of the ISSMGE Society and what are its present goals. It is designed to be useful for the present and future generations of geotechnical scientists and engineers, as it is stated on the ISSMGE website, see https://www.issmge.org/the-society/time-capsule/time-capsule.
The Vietnam Society for Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering (VSSMGE) has gathered a group of experts within the society to write about events, activities, and facts under the headings: VSSMGE History and Congresses; Conferences & Seminars; Research & Practice; Geotechnical Firms. The current information will be added gradually later to form an overall view about VSSMGE. We will continue to call the VSSMGE members to write more about our society.
