Presentation documenting key achievements in offshore geotechnics and a questionnaire exploring trends and developments.
TC209s contribution to the ICCMGE Time Capsule Project comprises two parts, as detailed below.
Part 1 -MILESTONES IN OFFSHORE GEOTECHNICS
Objective: Past to present an enduring framework to celebrate milestones in offshore geotechnics
This activity involved the creation of timelines that capture achievements in the area of Offshore Geotechnics over time. Available via the TC209 webpage, they are designed to enable all practitioners to contribute new content by (a) adding details to an existing entry; or (b) providing additional entries. Each timeline will be maintained into the future, thereby providing a framework to capture future milestones.
The following (preliminary) timelines have been prepared:
Content for other timelines has been received and will be released shortly watch this space!
We welcome additional contributions on the above. Please email TC209 Chair ([email protected]) indicating:
Thanks to the following for contributing to the first issue of each timeline: Yiorgos Perikleous, Tom Lunne, Zack Westgate, Alan Young, Don Murff, Jose Parra, Diego Cruz, Youhu Zhang, Marcelo Silva, Mike O'Neill and Jean-Louis Colliat.
Part 2 - A MOMENT IN TIME
Objective: Future focused perceptions of where the offshore geotechnics sector is heading
A survey was prepared to investigate current perceptions and future trends in offshore geotechnics. Open to anyone working in offshore geotechnics, questions were grouped under technology, the future geotechnical engineer and new markets.
Nearly 150 responses were received an initial summary is provided this the attachment. Further detail pending (to be released on the website or via a conference paper / presentation).
